Spider-vasana

Day 2 of early morning yoga – done!

Althought today was a little more scattered than yesterday, I got up, changed clothes and went in to start doing the 20 minute Morning Flow download this morning and saw  huge quarter-sized spider on my mat! Gah! I grabbed a cup from the kitchen and a paper and scooped him up + threw him outside. What a way to start the day, huh?  Good thing I had at least put my contacts in – I may not have seen him at all without them!

Yoga was going well and I had Roxy walking under me every time I was in down dog, which was kind of funny. Nick got up and came in to see how her eye was doing so I took a quick break to talk to him and say good morning.

I did get it finished and it was great, but broken up a bit. This morning flow download is great – lots of backbends, aka things I don’t do well yet  :)  But I love how they make me feel.

We have a lot of berries in the house, so I’m trying to use a bunch up at breakfast this week before we head out for the weekend.

oatmeal

  • 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water, pinch salt
  • 1 small banana, sliced
  • cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp cooked wheatberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries (to cool it down!)
  • palmful fresh berries
  • 1 Tbsp slivered almonds

I need to remember to mix up some muesli this week  – I love having oats, but I had to add some frozen berries this morning just to cool this down enough to eat!

Off to work!

Do you freak out when you see big bugs?

  1. Nope I have an UNREASONABLE phobia of caterpillars though!!!! So I understand :-P

  2. Spiders are NOT okay!!!!
hahaha I do love how that bug completely ruined any buddhist zen moment you may have been having though! hahaha That sounds like such a funny sight! :-)

  3. I DESPISE all bugs except for butterflies – AHH!!!

  4. I am fine with bugs and spiders, but am terrified of bees and wasps- to the extent that from March – November, I refuse to open any windows in my apartment and have wasp spray in every room! it’s horrible! lol.

Do the frozen blueberries thaw when you add them to the hot oats? I use frozen a lot but always defrost them overnight because i wasn’t sure if they would stay frozen after adding to the hot oats!

    • They thaw fine in the hot oats – I actually like adding them straight from the freezer because it cools down the oatmeal, too. I’ve also just warmed them up for a minute in the microwave before tossing them in.

  5. Big bugs are so scary!!!!! aaaaaaaaaah! I would have freaked haha.

  6. Ew!

I do freak out a bit. But that’s because we’ve had bug problems in the kitchen, and I don’t think there could be any worse room to have bugs in, you know?

I like the title of this post :)

  7. I freak out at the sign of ANY bug–big or small! Eeeek!

  8. YUCK to the spider!! I hate the kind that are SUPER fast/jump when you try to kill it – otherwise I’m not too creeped out.

  9. I totally freak out about big bugs!! I can’t believe you got interrupted in the middle of your practice! Glad you could finish it off though – I’ll have to check out that download – I love backbends but I really need to work on them!

    Have a great day :)

  10. I am not scared of spiders, but I don’t like them one bit!

  11. Oh I love slivered almonds, I used to eat them on green beans all the time at my grandma’s house what a fun memory!
I haaaaaate spiders! That’s what boys are for, spider disposal! lol.

  12. I’m not really afraid of bugs…don’t know why because I’m a wimp about everything else in life….

  13. Hi! I’m a new reader, totally love your blog so far!

I get physically ill when I have to deal with spiders. I always have spider spray on hand because I can’t even get within 5 feet of them or I’ll cry, it’s pathetic. I need to get hypnotized or something. Other bugs are fine, but give me a spider and I turn into a hot mess.

    • Hi Low! Thanks for reading and commenting :) I don’t like spiders either – that one this morning freaked me out!

  14. I most definitely freak out if I see a big bug. Spiders are at the top of my phobia list. Cockroaches and flying stuff will freak me out as well.

If it had been me, I would have stood screaming like an idiot until my husband killed it or got it away.

  15. BEAUTIFUL arrangement!!
