Sunday Slowdown

I love that Sundays often feel slower than all the other days in the week. Although I usually have a lot of stuff to do, I like the feeling that the weekend is stretching itself out so I can get everything done that I need to do and still enjoy the day.

The shakes last night turned out awesome!

This was the best homemade milkshake I’ve made so far. It made 2 and I used about a cup of frozen mixed berries, 1.5 cups slow churned vanilla ice cream, and 2 cups of unsweetened original almond milk. So good! This was the perfect snack to have during the movie. Although this was the one that caught my eye, there were a few other cool summer drinks that I want to try very soon – especially the Orange Basil Cooler and the Lemon Verbena Iced Tea if I can find those leaves!

Taken was good! It was different than I thought it would be just based on the previews, but we both liked it. Very suspenseful, and I like that it wasn’t super long! It seems that most movies now are at least 2 hours long, but this was only 1 hr 33 minutes and it still packed in tons of action + got resolved.

Breakfast this morning was a Sunday usual of eggs and oatbran for me

half an orange and a few extra strawberry slices from yesterday

and a fat free peppermint mocha during church.

I got so hot during church today that I almost passed out! I don’t think the air was circulating enough, and I just felt really hot and dizzy, so I had to go sit in the hallway for a while. Thankfully, I didn’t actually pass out and I did start feeling better but that is never a fun feeling.

Nick and I were both ready for lunch when we got home – I got him some of his favorite hot dogs this week since they were on sale, so he grilled a few for him and I had him grill up a veggie burger for me.

I had it with ketchup and mustard on an arnold thin

burger

Plus a big salad of romaine, tomato, corn, and avocado with some lemon juice, salt and pepper.

Then it was nap time  :)  We took about a 45 minute nap on the couch with Roxy and now I’m working on my list for today:

  • Finish laundry
  • Bake my first ever “real” scones
  • Cook wheatberries + wheatberry salad(?) for lunches this week
  • Make hard boiled eggs
  • Clean

I have a lot of stuff, but most of the cooking won’t take too long and the scone project should be fun – if they turn out  :)

See you for dinner! I have no clue what I’m making!

  1. I really must try your egg topped oat bran. I always have over easy eggs with cottage cheese and flaxseed, but I think the oat bran will have more staying power. Lovely smoothie!!!

  2. Yikes!! Scary about the church incident! Heat makes me dizzy as well so I know how horrible that can really be :( Hope you’re a-okay now!

Your breakfasts always look so good – want to switch for a day? I’ll make you a parfait and you can make me eggs/oat bran!? ;)

  3. awww, nap time sounds so ideal right now!

i’m glad you’re feeling better. that light-headed woozy feeling is terrible.

i can’t wait to see your scones!

  4. Your eggs look amazing as usual! Hope you are feeling better!

  5. I’m excited to see your scones! I’ve never made “real” ones myself… just the healthy rip-offs. :)

  6. Wow those shakes look so good! Ooh I’m sorry to hear about the church incident! I’m glad you didn’t pass out, yikes.
