Friday Rules!

TGIF, right? I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for Friday to get here!

First things first – I just wanted to say Hi to all the new readers/commenters lately! I’ve been trying to get back to comments and visit your blogs as well, but I just wanted to say Hi! Thanks for visiting and reading and commenting!

Friday wouldn’t be Friday without a fun breakfast, right?  That’s what I think.

I had one dark chocolate reese cup left that Nick saved for me, so I knew I was saving it to do this again.

oatmeal

  • 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water, pinch salt
  • 1/2 banana, sliced
  • 3-4 strawberries, sliced (nowhere NEAR as good as the ones yesterday)  :(
  • 4 blackberries
  • cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp crunchy pb
  • 1 dark chocolate reese cup

Seriously – I don’t know what could be better on a Friday morning. It’s the start of the weekend, I’m having melty pb and chocolate on my oatmeal, and I’m in jeans and a super cute top today! I even have on makeup! I wish every day could be Friday.

So, I’m running in my first ever 10K race that is also a trail run tomorrow morning. I’m super excited, but since I’ve only done a couple 5Ks (none of which were trail runs), I know it will be different than the races I have done.

Have you ever done a trail run and/or 10K? Any tips or advice?

I do have my race outfit picked out, which is one of the most important things  :)

  1. I used you as inspiration and threw some mini chocolate chips in my oatmeal…hey its Friday!!

I have run many 10Ks but only one trail run and it was a 5K. Best advice: START SLOW! The trail run I did was up a mountain and I did it NINE minutes slower than my slowest 5K!

    Best of luck!!

  2. Dark chocolate Reese’s!? As if Reese’s couldn’t get good enough they have to pop this one on us?! I’m glad I don’t have those because I’d EASILY polish off a bag! Reese’s are my favorite!

    HAPPY FRIDAY!!

  3. Oooh dark chocolate Reese’s! I love the close-up picture :)

As far as trail runs, just watch your step – I did a 10K in Quantico back in March and it had rained for two days straight before the race. Everything was absolute mud and we had to make sure our shoes didn’t come off while we were running!

Most importantly though, I recommend taking your time and having fun. Trail runs are so great b/c the scenery is usually so pretty and it makes for a really nice race. Can’t wait to hear all about it!

  4. What a beautiful arrangement for breakfast! That totally made my mouth water.

  5. Love that pic of the reese’s shadow on your oatmeal :-)

I’ve never done an organized 10K run (doing my first this summer), but I used to do a lot of trail runs, and my biggest piece of advice is WATCH YOUR STEP!
    you’ll do awesome!

  6. I love PB cups–homemade ones are good too because then you can customize! =) Good luck with the race too!

  7. I love that pic of the resees cup! Sooo mouthwatering. I’m glad you’re having such a great start to your Friday!

I’ve never ran a trail race before, but I’ve heard that you really need to watch your footing. Have fun, good luck, and I can’t wait to hear how it goes! :D

  8. Love your breakfast!!

I am a 5k runner, although a trail run would be fun!

I did a triathlon once, but I am a horrible swimmer – the look of relief on my husband’s face when I got out of the lake! :D

    Happy Friday!

  9. That is one seriously amazing bowl of oats!
