Reading Fool

I love sitting with all the windows open, hearing the birds singing and the kids playing down the street. We finally had a nice day today and I enjoyed every bit that I could! I knew we would be running after work so I ate a hard boiled egg around 4 to hold me over until dinner. Eggs = the perfect little protein filled snack.

This held me over perfectly!

The weather was perfect for a run today and I was so excited to get out there. It’s been over a week! After 4 days of hard rain last week and then 3 days sitting in a van, my legs were itching to move.

  • 3.56 miles
  • 33:19
  • Average mile: 9:19

I’m really glad we went today – my legs were really tight the entire time, but they felt a lot better once we were done. And I feel a lot better – much more sane after this crazy trip and weekend. It just felt good to sweat.

Dinner was easy tonight – that mac’n’cheese dish made a ton last night, so I knew we were going to have leftovers tonight.

I had my mac’n’cheese/veggie/ham mixture along with some broccoli and sliced tomato topped with some chile garlic sea salt.

Cheesy, carby, veggie-y.

I don’t understand how people think eating “healthy” is gross, plain, or boring. Mac’n’cheese? Sign me up. Nick even commented last night on how good these whole wheat noodles were! I had a hard time convincing him of that at first, but that’s why it’s important to try different brands. These were some mini shells I got at the amish market near Nick’s parents house, and they have the best whole wheat pasta that we’ve had – in every shape. I think I need to stock up anytime we’re there.

Random Item for Today: I have become addicted to reading again and I am loving it – except for the fact that my job is getting in the way  :) I seem to go through phases where I have tons of books that I want to read and I will be reading something for weeks or months straight. As soon as I finish one (or even before I finish one!), I start something new. I had a hard time reading many “fun” books for the past 2 years while I was working and in school part time and now I finally feel like I can just dig in to everything I’ve had waiting on me.

I finished 2 books this weekend on the trip: The 8th Confession by James Patterson and Breakheart Hill by Thomas Cook. I also read through 3 Rachael Ray magazines, a Cooking Light, Southern Living, and Heart Healthy Living.

It’s easy to read when this is what you’re seeing for 12 hours –

The thing I’m most excited about is the new book I started near of the end of the day on Sunday (while still in the car). I found this book randomly and I’m glad I did!  I am really enjoying it so far.

OnWhatGrounds

I love mystery books and this one is just right up my alley – it has all these little tips and facts about coffee (and recipes) woven into the story. In fact, I went to Barnes and Noble today just to buy the next 2 books in the series so I would have them when I finish this one – and I’m not even halfway done yet!

I’m off to finish watching AI/The Biggest Loser, finish packing my lunch, and read more of my book  :)

Night!

  1. The coffeehouse book looks great!! I might need to find those! The mac and cheese doesn’t look bad either :)

  2. I have never read any James Patterson books. Are they good? Which one would you recommend reading first?

    • Hi Yasmin! I love all the Women’s Murder Club books – the first one is called “1st to Die” and there are 8 in the series right now, including the 8th one I just finished.

If you’ve seen the movies “Kiss the Girls” or “Along Came a Spider”, those are based on 2 of his books, too.

  3. I also get in the same sort of reading phases! I am starting one now :)

  4. I’ve read all of Thomas Cooks books. Breakheart Hill was one of my favorites. I get books on CD (or cassette) from the library and listen while I clean, drive, garden, or anything else where my family isn’t around.
