Run, Brandi, Run!

and that is what I did.

After breakfast, I ran to the store to pick up some lettuce for tonight, and we decided to go running before lunch so we could finish before it started raining. Thank goodness it held off! It just now started raining, so we were able to get in a 3 mile run.

The exciting part? We finally ordered a heart rate monitor earlier this week and it came yesterday, so Nick tried it out today on our run. It’s awesome! We ordered the Garmin Forerunner 50 that came with the foot pod to measure the distance.  Most of the run was good – I ended up having some pretty bad side stitches/cramps in the last 1/3 of the run, but I finished and I didn’t stop running! I’m going to try the HRM on the next run to see if the strap on this one fits me well. If it does, I think we’ll just order another one because we got it for a really good price.

After showering, I was ready for lunch! And carbs  :)

I cooked up two chicken breasts (one for each of us), 2 servings of whole wheat macaroni noodles, and 1/2 a bag of these new Green Giant frozen mixed veggies with cheese sauce. I had a coupon for the veggies, so I got them to try this week. It came out really well!

I cut up the chicken into bite sized pieces and browned it up in the pan with some salt, pepper, and garlic powder. While that was cooking, I boiled the pasta. After the chicken was done, I took it out of the pan and added the frozen veggies to the pan the chicken was in. Cover it and let cook until the veggies were cooked and the sauce thawed. Then I added the chicken back in, added the macaroni, and some of the pasta water to make the cheese sauce cover more of the dish.

I only meant for this to be 2 servings, but we ended up getting 3 out of it, so I have some leftovers for later  :) I love accidental leftovers!

And just because I wanted some chocolate, I just had a small bag of raisinets.

What? It’s a fruit serving!

I’m working on laundry right now and am going to prep a few things for tomorrow/this week before we head to our friends’ house. We are going over to their house for dinner tonight – I’ll take my camera with me, but I don’t know who all is going to be there, so we’ll see if I whip it out or not  :)

I hope you’re having a great Saturday!!!

  7. Ohhh, raisinettes. I remember eating raisinettes years ago when I was in the US, we were in the car in the summer and they were in the glove compartment. Kind of warm and slightly mushy but good. :)
