Bluegrass Legend

Today is beautiful outside! The sky is blue, the grass is kind of green? and some of our flowers are already blooming – bring it on! I’m ready for warm weather :)

This morning, Nick and I had to leave around 8:30 to take his Dad’s guitar to be repaired, so we had a quick breakfast.

I made a wrap with some scrambled eggs and turkey bacon, plus some of those skillet apples – yum. I think they were even better this morning!

The man who is fixing Bob’s guitar, Olen Gardner,  is this bluegrass legend and master guitar maker and player, as well as master banjo player. He has been to the Grand Ole Opry, and has all these awesome posters and newspaper clippings in his shop. He is such a neat man and has some great stories. I’m not sure how we got on this today, but he was telling us how he remembers everything being rationed during WWII and the kids gathering up scrap metal and old tires for the military to pick up and use during the war. I found a video of him playing in Floyd county here if you want to see it.

After dropping off the guitar and talking with him, we stopped by Kroger to pick up a few more things for this week and then to Walmart to look for some seeds for the garden. We can’t the peas we want, though, so I guess we’ll need to look around some more.

By the time we got home, it was lunch time and we had some good leftovers waiting to be eaten  :)

I had some broccoli from last night, along with the last of my pizza pop from lunch yesterday

I also ate the last of my cantaloupe, but my camera was too slow to catch it!

I’ve got a bunch of stuff to do today, but not until the Hokie game is over  :)

– Laundry

– Baking project? today or tomorrow

Enjoy your afternoon!
